Lecture by Margaret Burr
B.G. Windus (1790–1867), a wealthy coachmaker who lived in Tottenham, north London, assembled an important collection of over 200 Turner watercolours which was memorialised in a well-known watercolour of his library by John Scarlett Davis in 1835. He also collected drawings by David Wilkie and was later a supporter of the Pre-Raphaelites.
Margaret Burr, a long-term Tottenham resident, co-edits the website ‘Turner in Tottenham’.
