Turner’s The Battle of Trafalgar

Visit to the Queen’s House, Royal Museums Greenwich

Following recent cleaning Turner’s Trafalgar (1822–4) – his largest canvas – was rehung for the battle’s 220th anniversary in a new contextual display in the Queen’s House, Greenwich, as the National Maritime Museum contribution to ‘Turner 250’. Pieter van der Merwe, who was on the NMM staff for over 40 years, will lead this visit. It will include a look at other paintings in the House, and commentary on ‘historic Greenwich’ more generally.  We have up to 20 places for this visit, which should last about 1–1½  hours. 11 for 11.15 a.m.
